EAPISA’s mission is to promote Equine Assisted Psychotherapy as a profession and as a means of enhancing human well-being through therapeutic encounters with horses.

EAPISA strives to provide the highest level of service to professionals in the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and to the community at large.

Objectives
Main Objectives
1 To promote Equine Assisted Psychotherapy as a profession and as a means of improving human well-being through therapeutic encounters with horses.
2 To establish and maintain a high standard of ethics and practice among Equine Assisted Psychotherapists (Equine professionals as well as Mental Health professionals), and an unwavering commitment to the humane treatment of horses in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
3 To promote knowledge of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (as distinct from other equine therapies) at tertiary educational institutions and among mental health professionals as well as the public at large.
4 To support members by making available resources related to Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, such as workshops, books, case studies and a website.
5 To encourage and support the development of a high standard of research in the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy at tertiary education level.
Secondary Objectives
1 To promote the common interests of our members, who are practitioners of, or who are involved in the field of, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
2 To work in collaboration with other organisations active in the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
3 To engage in policy development processes relevant to the practice of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy in South Africa.
4 To support EAPISA’s continuous growth and development.
